ECHO COMMUNITY. . .Alfred Boyce Sewell, a resident of the Echo community in Dale County, died Saturday night, March 10, 2012, at his home. He was 83.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A. M. Tuesday, March 13, 2012, in the Mt. Enon Baptist Church, between Midland City and Echo, with Reverend Danny Quincey, Reverend Guy Causey and Reverend Joel Laseter officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Holman-Headland Mortuary is in charge of funeral arrangements. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. Monday at the mortuary in Headland.

Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the Mt. Enon Baptist Church Building Fund, c/o Charles Stevens, 3478 South County Road 67, Midland City, AL. 36350.

Mr. Sewell, affectionately known by his family as “PaPa”, was a lifelong resident of Dale County, near Echo, son of the late Lewis Franklin Sewell and Callie Matilda Stevens Sewell. He served his country in the U. S. Army during World War II. Mr. Sewell was a member of the Mt. Enon Baptist Church. He was retired from Dolly Madison Industries at Napier Field in the finishing department. After his retirement, Mr. Sewell was employed by Ozark Baptist Church. In later years, he and his wife operated Sewell’s Grocery in Echo and were self-employed in the lawn care business. He was preceded in death by a brother, Rudolph Sewell.

Surviving relatives include his wife of sixty-three years, Alice Kirkland Sewell, a daughter, Patricia Mitchell, and a son, Tim Sewell and wife, Debbie, all of the Echo community; a sister, Joyce Long, Echo community; four grandchildren, Stephanie Tyre (Mike), Tiffanie Williams (Billy), Cassie Faria (Rusty), and T.J. Sewell (Amanda); fourteen great-grandchildren, Justin, Jessie, Tyler, Rosa, Shelby, Hannah, P.J., Collin, Hadlee, Layn, Paycee, Kloee, Libby and Kamryn.

Serving as active pallbearers will be T. J. Sewell, Rusty Faria, Mike Tyre, Justin Tyre, Jessie Tyre, Tyler Mitchell, Billy Williams and Collin Dykes.
