ABBEVILLE…Mary Frances Clifton Patterson, a resident of Abbeville, died Sunday morning, April 8, 2012, at her home. She was 86.
Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, April 11, 2012 in the Holman-Abbeville Mortuary Chapel with Brother Harold Pettis officiating. Graveside services will follow at 3:00 P.M. Wednesday in the Harmony Congregational Methodist Cemetery, near Newell, Alabama, with a nephew, Brother Larry Clifton officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. Tuesday at the mortuary.
Mrs. Patterson was born and reared in Randolph County, near Wedowee and Roanoke, daughter of the late Joseph Lee Clifton and Beulah Johnson Clifton. She formerly lived in LaGrange, GA before moving to Abbeville in 1980. She was an active member of New Testament Holiness Church, near Abbeville. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Harvey (Billy) Patterson, four grandchildren, Natalie Ringer, Annette Ringer, Paula Ringer and Judith Ringer; five sisters, Helen Kocer, Essie Gentle, Mozella Crumpton, Willie Dean Parker and Lessie Franklin; five brothers, Junior Clifton, Leroy Clifton, Luther Franklin, James Franklin and Willis Franklin.
Surviving relatives include three daughters, Joyce Hancock and husband, Hubert and Evelyn Patterson, all of Abbeville; Linda Faye Brewer, Headland; a son, Thomas Patterson, Abbeville; a sister, Mary Magdalene Smith, Abbeville; eight grandchildren, Kim MacAloney(Daniel), Lane Ringer(Rosemary), Jimmy Patterson(Patty), Cindy Braswell, Angela Patterson, Chris Payne, John Payne and Lisa Payne Beasley; nineteen great-grandchildren, seven great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
