DOTHAN. . .Billy T. Phillips, a resident of Dothan, died Friday afternoon, April 27, 2012, at his home. He was 73.
Memorial services will be held at 2:30 P.M. Sunday, April 29, 2012, in the Holman-Headland Mortuary Chapel with Reverend Roy Rogers, Reverend David Willis and Minister Dan Jenkins officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:30 until 2:30 P.M. Sunday at the mortuary in Headland.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Harvest United Methodist Church, 2727 Fortner Street, Dothan, AL. 36305 or Gentiva Hospice, P.O. Drawer 2127, Dothan, AL. 36302.
Mr. Phillips was born and reared in Dothan, son of the late Shelva Floyd Phillips and Bessie Mae Tharpe Phillips. He served his country in the U. S. Air Force during the Lebanon Conflict. Mr. Phillips lived in Tampa, Florida most of his adult lifetime before returning to Dothan in 1990. He was retired as a supervisor and trainmaster from CSX Railroad in Tampa. Mr. Phillips was a member of the Harvest United Methodist Church, the American Legion and the Brandon Masonic Lodge No. 114 in Brandon, Florida.
Surviving relatives include his wife, Donna Arnold Phillips, Dothan; his cherished and loving canine companion, Nilla; five daughters, Michelle Ann Ross, Tampa, FL; Jenna O’Keefe (Rock), Tampa, FL; Jacqui Jenkins (Gary), Palm Beach, FL; Kayla Thornton (Phillip Warren), Greenville, S.C.; Robin Case (Jim), Atlanta, GA; a son, Douglas Phillips, Tampa, FL; a sister, Merle Phillips Wilkins (Walter), Dothan; two brothers, Walter Phillips (Sue), Newnan, GA; Henry Phillips, Dothan; eleven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; and many loving nieces, nephews and dear friends.
