JESSE T. HARPE

ABBEVILLE…..Jesse T. Harpe, a resident of Abbeville, died Wednesday evening, May 16, 2012, in a Dothan hospital. He was 69.

Memorial services will be 3:00 P.M. Sunday, May 20, 2012 in the First Baptist Church of Abbeville with Reverend Mike Whitt officiating and a eulogy to be given by Mr. Tom Vickers. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:00 P.M. Sunday in the Family Life Building.

Mr. Harpe was a native and lifelong resident of Abbeville, son of the late John Thomas Harpe and Annie Byrd Boatwright Harpe. He was a 1961 graduate of Abbeville High School and was retired from the United States Postal Service as a City Letter Carrier in Abbeville, after thirty one years of employment. Mr. Harpe was a member of the First Baptist Church of Abbeville. He was preceded in death by a son, Troy Barron.

Surviving relatives include his wife, Joan Taylor Harpe, Abbeville; three daughters, Lora Stepanovich and husband, Jeff, Naples, FL; Kim Harpe, Abbeville and Tami Singletary, Headland; one step-daughter, Tracy Shirah, Abbeville; two step-sons, Todd Barron and wife, Donna, Headland and Tim Barron and wife, Margaret, Abbeville; step-daughter-in-law, Donna Brown Barron, Abbeville; sister, Elizabeth Starling and husband, Thomas, Abbeville; twelve grandchildren, Jerry Stepanovich (Jill), Garrett Stepanovich, Jessica Sweet, Madison Sweet, Kyli Singletary, Mason Singletary, Haley Barron, Dillon Barron, Caleb Barron, Josh McCoy, Logan Shirah and Kalei Shirah; two great-grandchildren, Brooklyn Stepanovich and Maverick Stepanovich;aunt, Teenie Harpe Tapley, Abbeville; niece, Cindy Phillips (Sam), Abbeville; special cousins including, Jackey Harpe (Cleta), Abbeville, Lamar Harpe (Helen) and Rose Perry, all of Dothan.
