HEADLAND. . . John Robert Armstrong, a resident of Headland, died Friday morning, July 6, 2012. He was 85.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M. Sunday, July 8, 2012, in the Holman Headland Mortuary Chapel with Reverend Norman C. Simmons officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:00 P.M. Sunday at the mortuary.

Mr. Armstrong was born and reared in Henry County, near Abbeville, son of the late Joseph Dee Armstrong and Julia Bell White Armstrong. He was engaged in farming most of his adult lifetime and was of the Assembly of God and Baptist faiths. Mr. Armstrong was preceded in death by a brother, Willie J. Armstrong and two sisters, Eldora Richardson and Ethel Richardson.

Surviving relatives include his wife, Judy Hodges Armstrong, Headland; one daughter, Carol Day, Midland City; four step-daughters, Donna Stephenson (Bill), Dothan; Elizabeth Parmentier, Davenport, Iowa; Suzanne McClendon (John), Headland; Shannon Leigh Ciaravella (Ron), Sarasota, Florida; one step-son, Geoffrey Stephens, Dothan; three grandchildren, Ricky, Mark and Brandi; several step-grandchildren, three great-children and several step-great-grandchildren.
