DOTHAN……Charles Junior Cureton, a resident of Cureton Road, Dothan, (Hodgesville) died Tuesday afternoon, July 20, 2010, in the emergency room of a Dothan hospital. He was 60.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday, July 23, 2010, in the Holman-Headland Mortuary Chapel with Reverend Jeff Peacock and Mr. Eddie Cureton officiating. Graveside services, with military rites, will follow in the Hodgesville Baptist Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. Thursday at the mortuary in Headland.

Mr. Cureton was born in Henry County but was reared in Webb, son of the late Carl Edward Cureton and Johnnie Pearline Gray Cureton. He moved to Hodgesville in 1987 where he was a member of the Hodgesville Baptist Church. Mr. Cureton served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. He was employed by Sabel Steel in Dothan as a truck driver. He enjoyed camping, fishing and riding his motorcycle. Mr. Cureton was preceded in death by a sister, Martha Sue Cureton Spelts and three brothers, James Earl Cureton, John Edward Cureton and Jerry Lynn Cureton.

Surviving relatives include his wife, Merle Simpson Cureton, Dothan; two daughters, Terri Brown and husband, Phil, Weleetka, OK; Vicki Stowe and husband, Bill, Pansey, AL; six sons, Jason Cureton and special friend, Meagan; Mike Cureton and wife, Pat; Scott Mayo and wife, Heather, all of Dothan; Mike Mayo, Tell City, Indiana; Tommy Mayo, Carlisle, Indiana; Jerry Cureton and wife, Johnna, Spring, TX; four brothers, Kenneth Cureton and wife, Terri, Columbia; Waymon Cureton and wife, Sharon, Cottonwood; Bobby Joe Cureton, Dothan; Steve Cureton and wife, Sharon, Daphne, AL; a brother-in-law, Thomas Huey Spelts, Jr., Bluffton, GA; seventeen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

Serving as active pallbearers will be members of the L A Reapers Brotherhood. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be the Patriot Guard Riders.
